Really dandy custom Delta Elite by AZ Pistolsmith ‘The Gunsmith’ Nelson Ford. Nelson has been tuning and crafting great guns in Phoenix area since the early 80s. This 1988 Delta was likely built when the gun was still new, as talking to Nelson he stopped using the Clark BTGS seen in this gun late 80s in favor of the Ed Brown part. Nelson told me, when I mentioned how beautifully fit the Beavertail was, that he used to have a painted sign in his front window that read “Home of the ‘SUPERFIT BEAVERTAILS’” Showing he knew he was going the extra mile many years before the forum beavertail fitment wars started. The gun retains the Colt barrel but has a Kings bushing. The front sight is Nelson’s Gold bead, rear is a BoMar BMCS unit. Frame rails have been lightly peened, and the frame nicely hand checkered, frame finished in satin nickel by one of Nelsons buddys in the area. He had Chuck Rogers machine the flat top, BMCS cut and the front cocking serrations. This gun is in good shape but the front strap is a bit dingy looking from use. Great heater from a great shop.
